The Portrait Predictor is based on the work of Dr. William Marston and describes, or predicts, behavior based on how people view themselves in their various environments. The report uses the familiar DiSC typology to describe individuals with 20 possible outcomes based on the combination and strength of the 4 basic behaviors which are:
- Direct: To the point, decisive and bottom line oriented. These people tend to be independent and results driven. They are strong-willed people who enjoy challenges, taking action, and immediate results.
- Inspire: Optimistic and outgoing. They tend to be highly social and outgoing. They prefer participating on teams, sharing thoughts, and entertaining and energizing others.
- Support: Empathetic & Cooperative. These people tend to be team players and are supportive and helpful to others. They prefer being behind the scene, working in consistent and predictable ways. They are often good listeners and avoid change and conflict
- Correct: Concerned, Cautious & Correct. These people are often focused on details and quality. They plan ahead, constantly check for accuracy, and want to know "how" and "why".
Reading the Report
The Portrait Predictor report contains 5 pages of descriptive information, plus a 6th page with a graph of the actual scores. Knowing how to read it will help you process it quickly and effective.
- Page 1 identifies the individual and a brief introduction to the report.
- Page 2 provides the results of the assessment including a detailed behavioral profile based on which of the 20 portraits the assessment identified. If you only read one page – read this one.
- Page 3 provide additional descriptive information based on which of the 4 basic behavior is strongest for the individual.
- Pages 4-5 provide additional information for understanding the implications of an individual portrait for relationships and team. This content, with the exception of the star on the grid, is the same on all reports.
- A 6th page provides a graph of the actual scores. The first graph is how they act, the second how they think and the third their overall score. The graphs are useful for seeing the strength of a persons preferences for certain behaviors over others as well as the consistency of their responses.
Understanding the Results
Our research revealed that those with a high “I” especially the “Promoter” were more likely to excel in church planting. Conversely, those with the Is - “Collaborator” or Si – “Involved Appreciator” were more likely to be in the lower third of effectiveness. Thus, of the personality assessments provided by Church Planter Profiles the Portrait Predictor is the most predictive of likely church planting outcomes.
